Gargrave
is a large village 4 miles (7km) to the west of Skipton on the southern
edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Both the River
Aire
and the Leeds & Liverpool Canal pass through here.

The
Pennine Way passes through Gargrave, following the towpath of the Leeds
& Liverpool Canal nearby for a short distance. The village is a
popular destination for walkers and cyclists and is conveniently
located on the main A65 road between Skipton and Settle.
There are
three pubs here, the Old Swan Inn and the Masons Arms are in the
village and nearby is the Anchor Inn, a family orientated gastropub by
the canal.
The parish church is dedicated to Saint Andrew and dates
from 1852 although a church has been on this site for many years
previous to the current church.
