How
Stean Gorge is not far from the villages of Lofthouse and Middlesmoor.
It is ideal for the whole family as well as outdoor groups, corporate
events, stag and hen groups and schools. As well as the "big five"
activities on site there are other outdoor activities available within
easy distance such as canoeing andkayaking on the nearby reservoirs. Entrance to the Gorge is through a Narnia themed wardrobe beyound which is a lamp post and a statue of Aslan. Here you are truely in another world! The
visitor centre has a tearoom and for those wishing to enjoy the
delights of How Stean Gorge a little longer camping is available on
site. The pubs, both called The Crown in Lofthouse and
Middlesmoor are within walking distance and the "Top Crown" up the hill
in Middlesmoor is well worth a visit.

Stean Gorge has two caves open to visitors. How Stean Tunnel is a
short cave at the head of the Gorge near the Alsan statue but can often
be wet. Further down the Gorge is Tom Taylor's Cave, a 200 yard
long through trip with one entrance in the side of the Gorge and the
other in the campsite.
How Stean Gorge is open all round.
