The Shambles and Castleberg Rock

Settle is a small market town just outside the National Park and well worth a mention. It has limited free parking outside the Shambles in the town centre and pay and display a few yards away. Visitors may also visit by train as this is the southern terminus of the Settle to Carlisle Line, which takes the visitor on a scenic journey through 60 miles of wilderness before arriving at the border city of Carlisle.
There are plenty of shops here, selling outdoor equipment, crafts and provisions. There are also two chip shops and several cafés such as the Ye Olde Naked Man Café and Settle Down Café.

Settle Sheep Shambles

The Settle Sheep Shambles was an annual event held in the town until recently. Taking place over a weekend in early May this gala event included livestock, live music, exhibitions and a parade. It is not known if the Sheep Shambles will be ressurrected in the future.

There are several pubs in Settle and the neighbouring village of Giggleswick. Jazz music can be enjoyed at the Royal Oak in the town centre every Tuesday night.
Camping and caravaning is available at Watershed Mill just outside the town.
Standing proud above the town is Castleberg Rock with it's flagpole.
Market day in Settle is Tuesday.
