Easily accessible from the M6
motorway and the Settle and Carlisle Railway, the Three Peaks area of the Yorkshire Dales is the most
visited. Ingleton with it's useful shops and several pubs is a great
place to start your exploration of the Yorkshire Dales. The Settle
to Carlisle Railway is another great way to visit the Yorkshire Dales
with stations at Settle, Horton in Ribblesdale and Ribblehead enabling
access to the national park for those visiting without a car. There
are plenty of caves that are available for explorers of all abilities
from the novice caves of Long Churn to the challenging potholes of
Black Shiver and Meregill Hole. For the less adventurous White Scar and
Ingleborough Caves are open to tourists and non cavers get the
opportunity to visit Gaping Gill twice a year when local caving clubs
erect a winch across the shaft. |
