BOWLAND WILD BOAR PARK
Happy pigs at Bowland Wild Boar ParkBowland
Wild Boar Animal Park is a great day out for the family. Having
it's origins as a pig farm specialising in the raising of wild boar for
meat, the park is now home to a number of different types of animal and
there is something for everybody here. Ideal for school groups. | Hunted
to extinction in Medieval Britain, farming of wild boar began in
the 1980's and populations of feral wild boar have now established
themselves after some boar escaped. Today you can see boar being
farmed in free range conditions at Bowland Wild Boar Park.
Different paddocks are used for breeding, farrowing and raising
young before fattening prior to slaughter.
Other breeds of pigs are raised here and there are plenty of other animals on display such as sheep, deer and Llama.
Attractions include tractor and barrel rides for children, meerkat feeding, chick stroking and walks.
Wild boar meat is sold at the farm shop and can be enjoyed in the café.
