Downham

A lovely village near the foot of Pendle Hill in east Lancashire, Downham along with neighbouring Twiston is one of the jewels of the Ribble Valley, straddling Downham Beck, a tributary of the River Ribble.  One of the locations used in the 1961 film, Whistle Down The Wind, Downham was also used in the filming of  the BBC1 series, Born And Bred and the 2012 BBC drama, The Secret of Crickley Hall.
The Anglican church here is St. Leonards and there is a pub, the Assheaton Arms which is signposted from the main A59 road.
