JAMMY MILNER'S LEVEL

A lead mine near Keld at the head of Swaledale.  Also known as Tommy Miler's Level.  Just inside the entrance is an unstable section now reinforced with a large plastic pipe that can be negotiated with a flat-out crawl.  The mine goes quite a way into the hillside past a flooded shaft or sump in the floor and shaley sections.
