THISTLE CAVE

Adjacent to Runscar Caves is Thistle Cave.  Often visited by novice cavers, Thistle Cave is divided into three sections with the Middle and Upper Caves being the most popular.  The Lower Cave consists mostly of low crawling in a tight bedding plane but the Middle and Upper Caves are walking sized passages.  The Upper Cave ends in a chamber which is choked at the far end and at one time it may have been possible to connect with Scar Top Cave which is accessible through Runscar Cave No. 1.
Starting from the entrance of the Lower Cave we work our way up to the chamber at the end of the Upper Cave.
