GREAT DOUK CAVE

A great introduction to caving, Great Douk Cave in Chapel le Dale is the undergound equivalent of a walk in the park.
Access to the cave is via a bridleway from the Old Hill Inn which leads to a large depression.
Climb up the right hand side of the waterfall to access an easy passage some 3,000 feet (900m) long.  This cave is graded 1 (easy cave), unusual for such a long cave in Yorkshire.
At the far end the cave closes down to a crawl from which it is possible to exit through either Middle Washfold Dry or Sink Caves.
