COUNTY
POT
County
Pot is the most popular route into the extensive Easegill Caverns, over
30 miles (50km) of passage which include Pippilin Pot, Link Pot,
Lancaster Hole, Bull Pot of the Witches and the many other entrances
into this fascinating system. This system has been dived to Lost Johns
Cave under Leck Fell in Lancashire adding another 6 miles (10km) to the
total length.
About a mile (1.6km) from Bullpot Farm a short, easily
climbable entrance shaft by Ease Gill beck leads into an entertaining,
narrow twisting passage with a few awkward climbs before reaching the
top of the First Pitch. At 25 feet (8m) this leads to a short
climb into the large passage of Broadway and Oxford Circus from where
several routes lead off. An interesting, short trip leads up
to
Spout Hall then Platypus Junction before returning via Razor Passage
and back to Oxford Circus and Broadway.
Other routes lead to Lancaster Hole and a variety of exchange trips can
be taken throughout this complex system.
Becoming lost is a hazard in Easegill Caverns and visitors should be
accompanied by someone who is familiar with the route. |
