This cavern is visited by a boat trip along an underground canal.  A tunnel, one-third of a mile (550m) long which was built to mine lead leads to a large natural cavern, the Bottomless Pit, the limit of the tourist trip.  The artifical tunnel continues after the Bottomless Pit to an extensive series of natural caverns beyond.  These caverns connect with the neighbouring Peak Cavern.  Access to cavers wishing to visit Speedwell Cavern beyond the tourist sectionis via Peak Cavern.
