Longnor A
significant market town during the 18th century, Longnor is a village
in the very far north-east of Staffordshire on the banks of the River
Manifold. Dating from around the begining of the 8th century, Longnor
was recorded in the 1086 Doomsday Book as Longenalre. Longnor
has one of the oldest Methodist chapels in the area, dating from 1780
and John Wesley once preached here on the way through from Sheffield.
The Anglican church is St. Bartholomew's. Scenes from the T.V. series, Peak Practice were filmed here. The village has several pubs worth visiting.
