MANCHESTER HOLE

A great introduction to caving, Manchester Hole in Nidderdale is an easy (graded 1) cave.
Manchester Hole is a single large passage forming the upper part of the Goyden system.  An entrance slope 6 feet (2m) above and 33 feet (10m) back from the river at the base of a scar (pictured) leads down into easy passage 1650 feet (500m) long with stalactite curtains and a large chamber.

The cave floods to the roof, do not enter when the river is flowing into the entrance or the reservoirs three miles (4.8km) upstream are full.
